QUESTION

Traffic Hawk

12/27/2019

Does anyone have any experience with the ISN Traffic Hawk? We have one but it seems to be one problem with it after another. Does anyone know of a similar unit that may be more reliable as this one spends more time being shipped back for repairs than out on the street.

Don’t have that on this property, and not familiar with similar product.

Good to see others are working and not everyone is off today!

I’ve looked at the TrafficHawk, but did not end up pulling the trigger on purchasing same.

We have two SafePace traffic placards from TrafficLogix, an old Kustom Radar, and newer model LIDAR unit.

Give TrafficLogix a call, Heather Barrett, 1-866-915-6449 ext. 204.

Tell her Tim Cook referred you, and inquire about their Guardian (Standalone or Pro) speed awareness cameras.

Look at traffic logix. See attached.

Look at traffic logix. Traffic Hawk is garbage.

I heard a lot of concerns about the Traffic Hawk at our last conference.

They only had 1 guy that services these, and I have shelved mine,,, I’m over it.

11K-  wasted and the amount of work that went into setting it up, pulling video, searching records was a night mare.

The traffic Logix unit looks very enticing and I did budget for it in 2020

We do not use Traffic Hawk here.  We use All Traffic Solutions, with movable mounted signs.

I have used two different versions of the traffic hawk over the last 8 years or so. The best thing about the traffic hawk has been the ability to move it around street to street and throughout the community. The negatives are how labor intensive it is to get the videos, download the videos, store the videos, etc. Other negatives include batteries constantly dying, fuses being blown, the tripod wears out, and the connector for the machine to the tripod also wears out. It is expensive to fix. There is no warranty. On and on.

I am currently in the process of purchasing a Traffic Logix speed sign. We are going to use the basic speed sign for testing in the community. Once we determine whether or not the community has a speeding problem or not, we will either go forward with their new Radar Speed Sign with video recording or we will keep what we have and just have a Speed Sign. The regular speed sign is very affordable and in the event we do have a speeding problem, the funds generated by the video capture portion will eventually pay for the higher costs of high end machine.

PS…My community is only 8-10 miles from the office of ISN and they charge me for a Trip Charge to pick up my unit or delivery it. My unit has not worked properly for more months than it has worked properly.

We have one and have had no issues with unit.
